Rare Erling Haaland moment and new Man City record in moments missed vs Brighton

Manchester City brought their rotten run of results to an end on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Brighton, but it was by no means easy.

City raced into an early lead after Jeremy Doku's electric run resulted in him teeing up Julian Alvarez to sweep home. With the Argentine hot on his heels in the scoring charts, Erling Haaland made sure to remind everyone how good he was with a great strike to double the lead.

Pep Guardiola's side looked comfortable at the break but Brighton came out fighting to make it a difficult second half. The Seagulls created several good chances and finally found a way back into the game when Ansu Fati pulled one back. A late red card for Manuel Akanji galvanised them further but the Blues managed to hold on for an important win.

A rare goal for Haaland

Haaland brought his minor goal 'drought' to an emphatic end against Brighton with a fantastic goal. The Norwegian sensation seized the ball when it was sloppily lost in a dangerous position and drove forward before firing it into the bottom corner from the edge of the D.

It had been 13 months since Haaland's last goal from outside the box for City and it was only his second strike for the club to come from more than 18 yards. A rare finish from the striker and a great way to get back among the goals.

Rodri not learning

City were finally able to welcome Rodri back into the fold on Saturday and not a moment too soon. The Blues lost all three games the Spaniard was suspended for and missed him massively in the heart of the midfield.
