Raphinha sends Kalvin Phillips message after midfielder seals Manchester City move

Leeds United's first major sale of the summer was confirmed on Monday morning, as Kalvin Phillips was announced as a Manchester City player, in a deal worth £42million for Leeds United. Throughout last season, the England midfielder was regularly linked with a move away from the club, alongside Raphinha, who was strongly courted by Barcelona.

With Phillips' move confirmed and Barcelona yet to agree a deal with Leeds for the the Brazilian winger, Raphinha remains a Leeds player at this time. He is still expected to leave the club but he sent a message of goodbye to his former teammate, via social media.

Writing on his Instagram story, Leeds' number 10 shared a picture of the two celebrating following the final whistle of the match against Brentford, where Raphinha was one of the goalscorers as the club sealed their Premier League survival. He wrote:

"All the best for you my brother. I'm going to miss you."

Some could interpret that as Raphinha remaining at Elland Road this summer but that seems extremely unlikely, given that reports from the Netherlands suggest that Leeds have already agreed a deal with Feyenoord for Colombian winger, Luis Sinisterra. Meanwhile Victor Orta appears to have been working on a deal to replace Phillips with RB Leipzig's Tyler Adams.

Charles De Keteleare remains the Whites' top transfer target but Leeds will not move to close a deal for the Belgian forward until Raphinha's future is determined. AC Milan continue to be linked to the Club Brugge star but Leeds will hope to solve the Raphinha situation quickly in order to allow them to concentrate on convincing him to move to Yorkshire instead.
