Raphael Varane makes Champions League title claim as Galatasaray lose star ahead of Man United trip
Manchester United are under pressure to win their Champions League group clash with Galatasaray this evening for several reasons.
The club have endured their worst start to a Premier League season in 34 years amid Saturday’s defeat to Crystal Palace, having won just three of their first seven matches. Meanwhile, United are searching for their first point in Europe this season.
They lost 4-3 to Bayern Munich in their opener and another defeat will make it an uphill task to qualify for the knockouts. Raphael Varane is confident in his team though. The defender believes the Reds have the quality within their squad to win the Champions League despite their rough start to the season.

United have been handed further encouragement by learning one Galatasaray star has been ruled out of today’s clash.
Raphael Varane believes the Manchester United squad is good enough to win the Champions League.
United have only won the European Cup three times in their history and they have won a mere two knockout ties since they last reached the final of the competition in 2011. That also remains the last time United progressed beyond the quarter-finals.
Varane, who rejected United in favour of Real Madrid shortly after their 2011 final defeat by Barcelona at Wembley, won the Champions League four times with the competition's most successful side but he is convinced United are worthy competitors for the trophy this season.
