Rangers: Van Bronckhorst will be 'hugely frustrated' at Ibrox

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be “hugely frustrated” by not being able to field his strongest team for much of the season, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Glasgow giants are struggling both domestically and on the European stage, but their hopes of getting back on track haven’t been helped by their injury troubles.

Van Bronckhorst’s men got back to winning ways against St Mirren on Saturday following a 4-0 victory at Ibrox, a result which keeps them within touching distance at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

But Rangers have only managed consecutive wins once since August and their Champions League campaign has been extremely disappointing.

However, they’ve been dealing with the absence of some important figures, with Filip Helander and Kemar Roofe yet to feature this season, while John Souttar has made just one appearance following his summer move from Hearts due to an ankle problem.

Elsewhere, Tom Lawrence isn’t expected to return until after the World Cup and Alfredo Morelos has been dealing with fitness concerns, limiting Van Bronckhorst’s options during a hectic schedule.

With those injuries in mind, Jones reckons the Dutchman will be extremely frustrated that he’s not been able to call upon some of his key players.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It just feels at the moment like the clouds won’t move out of the way in terms of getting his strongest team out there and that’s got to be a huge frustration.”

Next up for is a crunch British derby with Liverpool at Ibrox and if the Scottish want any chance of playing post-Christmas European football, then three points is a must against the Reds.
