Rangers: Van Bronckhorst wants hierarchy to 'dig deep in pockets' at Ibrox

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst will put pressure on the hierarchy to ‘dig deep’ and give him a sizeable transfer budget if the Gers fail to bring the Scottish Cup back to Ibrox, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Van Bronckhorst was appointed as the Glasgow giants’ chief last November and, ahead of his first full campaign in the dugout, could look to freshen up his options when the summer window opens for business next month.

Rangers will go head-to-head with Hearts in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday, with this being their last opportunity to get their hands on a trophy this season.

Van Bronckhorst’s charges will go into the clash on the back of a huge midweek disappointment after a penalty shoot-out defeat saw them beaten to the Europa League crown, along with Champions League qualification, by German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.

The heartbreaking loss, which came after Aaron Ramsey was the only man to miss from the spot, resulted in Rangers’ 50-year wait for a European trophy going on.

While van Bronckhorst admitted missing out on Europa League glory ‘will hurt a lot’, he has urged his players to ‘move on’ and focus on overcoming Hearts at Hampden Park this weekend.

It comes after the Gers were beaten to the Scottish Premiership title by arch-rivals Celtic, who also got their hands on the Scottish League Cup.
