Rangers throw doors open to England as Auld Enemy make Auchenhowie their home ahead of Scotland clash

England are using Rangers' Auchenhowie training facility as a base ahead of the friendly with Scotland at Hampden on Tuesday.

Gareth Southgate's side have arrived in Glasgow after a 1-1 draw with Ukraine in Poland on Saturday night as they lost the 100% record tag in Euro 2024 qualifying. Steve Clarke's side will walk into Hampden as heroes and five qualification wins out of five after a 3-0 triumph over Cyprus all but booked a spot at the major tournament in Germany next year and a draw between Norway and Georgia could rubber-stamp it. You can guarantee a major Mount Florida party in that event.

The Auld Enemy provide a chance for the navy blue crop to test themselves in preparation for battling tough foes at the major tournament next year and ahead of the game, England have been using Rangers' training centre as a base, as revealed by a Tweet from the English social media account. They said: "New environment. New focus. The Three Lions are based at Rangers training ground ahead of Tuesday's 150th Anniversary Heritage Match against Scotland."

This isn't the first time the Light Blues have opened their doors to another team. Italian giants Juventus used their training ground as a base ahead of a Champions League battle against Celtic in 2013.

Boss Southgate said of the friendly after the Ukrainian draw: "We can have everybody in the squad involved for the next one. We’ll assess everybody over there over the next 24 to 48 hours because it’s another really good test.

“Another hostile environment, a team that are playing really well. You know, they’re in great form, full of confidence so it’s another important learning step for us.”
