Rangers: Van Bronckhorst 'being shown up' by Postecoglou at Ibrox

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst is being “shown up” by Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou at Ibrox, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Dutchman has come under pressure recently following his side’s poor start to the season.

Despite missing out on lifting the Scottish Premiership title, it was a successful first campaign at Ibrox for Van Bronckhorst, who won the Scottish FA Cup and also took Rangers to the Europa League final.

Van Bronckhorst continued his productive work in Glasgow by leading Rangers back into the Champions League for the first time since 2011.

But since their memorable victory against PSV to ensure their place back in the group stages, their form has been inconsistent.

In the race for the title, they’ve slipped two points behind Celtic, and the gap would have been more had the Hoops not lost at St Mirren before the break.

Meanwhile, Rangers have suffered two heavy defeats in the Champions League, already leaving Van Bronckhorst’s side facing an uphill battle to reach the knockout stages.

As a result, Jones reckons that the ex-Arsenal and Barcelona left-back is being outdone by Postecoglou, who won two trophies in his first season and has his Celtic side top and in with a chance of progressing in Europe.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “You would have expected van Bronckhorst to elevate himself quickly given his high standing in the game in terms of profile but at the moment he is being shown up by Ange, who very few people had probably heard of until quite recently.

“There’s still time though, GVB has every intention to prove himself.”

Even this early in the season, the next couple of months already feel crucial in Rangers’ campaign.
