Rangers still 'miss' Alfredo Morelos as Ibrox ally reveals transfer hope to take on 'very strong' Celtic

Former Rangers star Josh Windass reckons his old club still 'miss' Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian called time on six years at Ibrox in the summer, saying his farewell to the Rangers fans but is still without a club as transfer interest goes somewhat quiet on the 28-year-old. Morelos was the Light Blues' record European scorer and arrived in a coup deal in 2017 for £1million but left for free following the close of last season under Michael Beale. The striker has been putting the hours in the gym, while Beale put in the hard yards in the transfer market, bringing striking duo Danilo and Cyriel Dessers to Glasgow.

Yet Sheffield Wednesday attacker Windass believes the attacker leaves a hole in the Rangers team and was a player to light up the room during his Ibrox spell. The 29-year-old reckons the summer recruitment will 'hopefully' make up for his exit but has reiterated to old coach Beale that second is nothing in Glasgow.

Speaking to Sky Bet, he said: "He [Alfredo Morelos] scored a lot of goals, got a lot of red cards! He’s a good guy, doesn’t speak a lot of English but is quite a funny character in the changing room with his body language and the way he acts, he brightens up the room and makes training a good place to go to.

"I don’t think he’s got a club yet; I haven’t seen too much transfer activity but obviously he was there [at Rangers] quite a while now and was the club’s top European goal scorer, any team will miss a goal scorer who has moved on. Hopefully they have replaced him with the recruitment, but it’ll be interesting to see where Alfredo ends up.
