Rangers star reveals Jimmy Bell's inspirational message as duo aim to deliver silverware in Seville for late kitman

Rangers centre-back Leon Balogun and forward Fashion Sakala are aiming to win the Europa League in Seville for Wishaw's Jimmy Bell.

It's a huge night for the Premiership club as they take on Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in their first major European final since 2008.

Victory in southern Spain would secure a maiden continental piece of silverware since 1972 and it all comes off a number of swashbuckling performances against RB Leipzig, Braga, Red Star Belgrade and Borussia Dortmund.

This final arrives amid an emotional season at Ibrox, with legendary manager Walter Smith and kitman Bell passing during it. They hail from Lanark and Wishaw respectively.

Bell passed shortly before the semi-final second leg against Leipzig and Balogun says victory tonight would be for him.

He said: “Jimmy was very special for every one of us. He was the heart and the good soul of our dressing room. We also want to win the final for him.”

Sakala meanwhile is desperate to get on the park tonight in memory of his former colleague.

The forward scored against Celtic during Bell's final match in the dugout and a message from the Lanarkshire man has fuelled him with desire.

The Zambian said to Nieuwsblad: "If I were to score, I would dedicate my goal to Jimmy Bell, the kitman.

"Jimmy Bell has been a Rangers kit man for thirty years but died unexpectedly this season.

"That was shortly after my goal against Celtic and it left the whole club in mourning. Jimmy was a father to all players.

"After my goal against Celtic he said to me: ‘Fashion, enjoy it. Life is short’. We want to win that cup for him."
