Rangers star postpones new contract talks as Premier League 'big guns' monitor ace's transfer situation

Rangers want to begin contract discussions with Uddingston's Alex Lowry - but his camp are set to put them off until later this month.

The midfielder has formed part of their squad that has reached this year's Europa League final after a stunning 3-2 aggregate win over RB Leipzig at the semi-final stage.

An attacking midfielder, the 18-year-old has played four times for Giovanni van Bronckhorst's senior team after impressing in their Lowland League 'B' squad.

His current deal expires in 2023 and according to the Scottish Sun, English Premier League 'big guns' Newcastle United and Manchester City are keeping tabs on his situation.

The Light Blues want to offer Lowry - who hails from Uddingston and attended Motherwell's Braidhurst high school - fresh terms to keep him in Glasgow.

They want to begin talks next week, but the teenager's representatives want to wait until this season is done.

An exciting month now awaits as Rangers battle with Frankfurt in the Europa League final on May 18th before the Scottish Cup showpiece with Hearts coming a few day later.
