Rangers star Alex Lowry vows to stay grounded after man of the match award tops off stellar week

Rangers star Alex Lowry insists he'll keep his feet on the ground as his stock continues to rise.

The 18-year-old was handed a starting slot for Wednesday night's thumping 4-1 win over Ross County and produced an impressive display in the middle of the park for Gio van Bronckhorst's side, being named man of the match for his contribution.

Once again the Uddingston kid - who signed a contract extension with the club on Saturday until 2025 - looked at ease and was constantly looking to take possession and pop forward passes.

Indeed, an intelligent return pass with James Tavernier led to the spot-kick that the Gers skipper converted himself for the second goal of the night. Scott Wright opened the scoring before that and although County pulled one back through a Jordan White screamer, Fashion Sakala and Amad Diallo struck to seal the three points.

Despite an assured display in his sixth first team appearance of the season, he insists he will stay grounded as he racks up more experience and looks forward to being part of the squad for next week's Europa League final.

Lowry, who played the full 90 minutes, told Rangers TV: "I'm buzzing to get more minutes and happy that the boss put his faith in me to start me, so I can only thank him for that.

"I thought the boys were really good at times and there were times when we forced it a bit much - me included - but that's things we can work on for the next game.

"The more minutes I get under my belt the more experinence I will get playing in this league so the more the better.

"I've got good people behind me who always keep me level headed so there's no chance I will get carried away with this.

"This is just one step towards hopefully going where I want to go."

Lowry could have got
