Rangers record chasers on course for British football first as hyped-up Hotline caller sees Ibrox trophy pile up

International breaks can often lead to a ceasefire when it comes to battling amongst Scotland’s rival clubs sides. Not so when it comes to the Hotline.Another day goes past with all sorts of bickering and fighting on all manner of subjects.

In fairness, there was some national team chat, but it centred around England and a bashing of Rangers keeper Jack Butland. John Melrose, Edinburgh, said: “Rangers fans are making a fool of themselves with this Butland for England fairytale. Is this the same guy that Kyogo schooled from 25 yards with his weaker foot? Is this the same keeper who made a mess of Bojan Miovski’s goal at Ibrox and left a massive gap for the Benfica winner? He isn’t even in England’s Top 10.”

Talking of Kyogo, Eddie Easson, Ballingry, wasn’t happy with George Wilson’s call from the previous day comparing seasons and goal records. He said: “The only thing he got right was Kyogo scoring against his team. He mentions two players, James Tavernier and Cyriel Dressers. Maybe they should meet up with Kyogo and compare trophies and caps.”

Badgegate at Tynecastle has continued to receive correspondence. Hearts were unhappy after photos came out with images of the Rangers club’s crest being laid out across theirs in the home dressing room after the Light Blues’ win over Partick Thistle in the SWPL Cup Final.

But Alan Flett said: “We live in a world in which there are people dying in war-torn countries on a daily basis and innocent children are being kidnapped. But never mind all that. Hearts are upset because Rangers had the audacity to stick their badge over the home club crest in the Tynecastle dressing room. It’s pathetic beyond belief and the Jambos need to take a good look at themselves.”
