Rangers postmortem ramps up in Dortmund as incoming club chief tears into 'embarrassing' flops

Borussia Dortmund's incoming sporting director Sebastian Kehl has branded their defeat to Rangers as "embarrassing".

The Bundesliga giants are still reeling from Thursday night's Europa League shock as the Ibrox side ran out 4-2 winners in Germany.

Dortmund have taken a pummelling in their homeland with Giovanni van Bronckhorst 's side now favourites to progress to the last 16.

Current sporting director Michael Zorc insisted the BVB stars should be ashamed of themselves.

And Kehl, a former club captain and the man who will replace Zorc at the end of the season, has now weighed in with a scathing verdict of his own.

Ahead of Thursday's return leg at Ibrox, Kehl - who won the Bundesliga three times with Dortmund - couldn't believe what he was witnessing.

He said: "We are very, very sober when it comes to the performance of the players. We sat on the bench and thought 'why are we starting like this?'

"Why don't we realise how big this game is and how important it is?

"It broke all of our hearts. It was embarrassing.

"We have received a lot of justified criticism and the least we can do when we travel to Glasgow is produce a significantly improved performance.
