Rangers news bulletin on Barisic, Souttar and Hazard as Ianis Hagi gets bullish over injury blues in spiky interview

Rangers defender Borna Barisic will reportedly be offered the chance to leave Ibrox for Dinamo Zagreb in January.

The 30-year-old only has a year left to run on his Rangers deal and the Light Blues face the prospect of the Croatia international leaving in the winter window unless he signs new terms between now and then. He has regularly been linked with a move away from the Scottish Premiership but has kept his place in the starting XI ahead of Ridvan Yilmaz despite the £5million arrival of the Turkish international. However, Michael Beale could be scrambling to replace Barisic with Dinamo said to be keen on a deal.

Croatian outlet Index claim that a pre-contract offer is being prepared for the full-back to allow him to join for nothing at the end of the current campaign. It is also claimed that they could put a "very small' transfer bid to Rangers to snap up Barisic in January with the end of his deal rapidly approaching.

Loanee Ianis Hagi has also moved to draw a line under his injury absence that saw his Rangers career falter - before he was sent to La Liga side Alaves until the end of the season. The 24-year-old made his first appearance for Romania since the nightmare ACL injury in the Euro 2024 qualifying win over Kosovo.

But in a spiky post-match interview, Hagi refused to take questions on the recovery. Asked about the injury he said: "The injury was 10 months ago. I'm 100 per cent ready. I have played matches. Physically, I'm amazing. My stats are even better. I don't want to discuss anymore."

Elsewhere, rumours linking free agent Eden Hazard with a blockbuster move to Ibrox appear to have been shot down. Reports in Spain had suggested that an "interesting proposal" had been pitched from an SPFL side.
