Rangers loan striker set for Hamilton debut in Hearts opener
Hamilton Accies Women have signed striker Becca Taylor on loan from Rangers ahead of their big SWPL1 opener at home to Hearts.
Boss Robert Watson is delighted to land the 16-year-old and admits she is likely to make her debut when the club face a tough opening fixture against the Jambos on Sunday.
The Scotland under-17 international arrived last week and is raring to go.
Watson said: "Becca is one we've been working on for a while so we are really pleased we've managed to get it through.
"Rangers have been good in helping us get the deal through last week to get her a friendly game under her belt before the league starts this weekend.
"Although she is young, she will be an exciting asset for the team. She's a youth international so we are really pleased to have her.
"She will definitely be in the squad for Sunday and is in line to make her debut."
Accies managed to stay up last season after winning the SWPL1 play-off against Gartcairn and know they face another testing campaign in a league with some strong, full-time sides.
On the clash with Hearts, Watson added: "It is a big start for us with Hearts and Celtic and then a couple of quick turnaround for games with Partick and Motherwell.
"We need to make sure we are getting the right players in for the right games because I think there will be wildly different approaches to each game.
"Hearts have signed really well in pre-season and they will probably think that if they can make a fast start, they could be the team to finally split the top three [of Glasgow City, Rangers and Celtic].
"They have recruited well and I wouldn't be surprised if they do that. They've brought in players from abroad, from the Championship down south, which is a much higher standard than up here,
