Rangers legend Ally McCoist's rousing rallying cry ahead of Europa League final

Rangers legend Ally McCoist has issued a rousing rallying cry to fans ahead of tonight's Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt.

In a video issued by BT Sport ahead of the historic clash in Seville, McCoist, who played for the Ibrox club from 1983 to 1998, and managed them from 2011-14, says the progress Rangers have made since being relegated to the Third Division in 2012 has been staggering.

And he says that the current squad can write themselves into history and Rangers folklore, backed by thousands of fans who have travelled to Spain to back their heroes.

Overlaid with images of Rangers' incredible Europa League run, which saw them beat Borussia Dortmund, Braga and RB Leipzig to reach the showpiece clash, McCoist urged fans to support their favourites to the hilt this evening.

McCoist, 59, from East Kilbride, said: "To understand what this means, you need to take it back. 2012, heartbroken, humiliated, it was surreal - but you never gave up, you stayed by us.

"Fifty thousand at Ibrox, every other week, we rose, and we rose again and eventually, we were back.

"Stevie G had a masterplan - pride restored - and this season we showed the whole of Europe who we are.

"Here was boys taking on all-comers; Dortmund destroyed, Braga battered, then Leipzig... wow. Absolute carnage.

"You showed up, you backed the boys... a night that will be remembered forever.

"And now, the stage is set, the chance to join the greats. Seville ain't going to know what's hit it.

"One final match, one final push.

"Be loud, be proud, be ready. Come on you Gers."

Tonight's game at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium kicks off at 8pm, and is live on BT Sport.
