Rangers have ‘window of opportunity’ over £18k-a-week star at Ibrox
Rangers have a ‘window of opportunity’ to cash-in on Ryan Kent if he refuses to sign a new contract, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The 25-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his existing £18,000-per-week deal and has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time now.
A recent report from the Sunday Mirror (via the Daily Record) claimed that both Aston Villa and Leeds United were planning on scouting Kent during Rangers’ recent Champions League clash against Liverpool.
The former England Under-20 international was unable to prevent his side from falling to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Anfield in midweek, yet he could still be an appealing prospect.
Villa and Leeds could snap Kent up on a free transfer in January by agreeing a pre-contract agreement with him, although they would be forced to wait until the summer to be able to call upon his services.
Nevertheless, Rangers’ managing director Stewart Robertson has previously stated that talks remain ongoing over extending the winger’s stay at Ibrox.
But with the January window fast approaching, the Gers hierarchy will surely have to consider offloading Kent in the winter if he refuses to put pen to paper on fresh terms rather than risk losing him for free.
In an interview with GiveMeSport, O’Rourke said: “Decisions might have to be made on Ryan Kent’s future in January.

“It gives Rangers the window of opportunity to maybe cash-in on him, but a lot will depend on what offers come in for him because they won’t want to sell him on the cheap either.
