Rangers has turned into Wild West ahead of California cavalry arriving and Ibrox needs peace treaty from culture war

Hugh Keevins reckons the infighting has to stop in Govan with the takeover imminent.

The California cavalry, otherwise known as 49ers Enterprises, are on the way to Ibrox.

And, fittingly, the place has turned into the Wild West ahead of their arrival.

The man holding the fort Barry Ferguson announced he and his Scottish staff would get more respect if they were foreigners.

This observation, coincidentally or not, came on the day speculation began over Davide Ancelotti becoming next head coach at Ibrox.

If Rangers overlook Ferguson for the post it will be on the grounds of suitability, not nationality.

Then there was that banner at last Sunday’s win over Aberdeen to the effect that: “You jumped the gun and lost the fans. No apology. No surrender.”

The wounding words were aimed at CEO Patrick Stewart for stating another banner, depicting Graeme Souness, a firearm and a slogan best left unrepeated, had “crossed a line”.

There’s a culture war at Ibrox and the sooner there’s a peace treaty, the better.

Rangers fans are witnessing the team across the road on the other side of the city enjoy a period of unprecedented success.

They are now being offered the prospect of transformative, revolutionary change.

It would be unwise to bite the hand that feeds, would it not?
