Rangers fans VAR rage and brand SFA incompetent after cop out on head scratching Hotline
The Premiership campaign came to a close at the weekend – but it didn’t go quietly.
There was drama at Celtic, controversy with Rangers and disgraceful scenes involving Aberdeen that had the Hotline ringing off the hook.
First up that disallowed goal at Easter Road, Willie Mercer, Dumfries, said: “You could have Lord Nelson as referee and Stevie Wonder on VAR and they would have seen that the ball was clearly over the line.
“It was a cop out claiming that there was no clear evidence that the ball was over the line. TV replays clearly show the ball past the inside of the post touching the net. How these serial incompetents continue to officiate in the top league completely baffles me.”
Andy Adams, Kirkcaldy, said: “So they say VAR had no conclusive evidence the ball crossed the line? They didn't need conclusive evidence, Stevie Wonder could see it was a clear goal. I've no doubt Collum will admit to a mistake next week, it's not VAR's fault, it's the incompetence of the officials, they don't want to make a call, just rely on VAR, It's laughable if it wasn't serious.”
Peter Cooperwhite emailed: “Everyone saw it was a goal. The ball hit the inside netting, the defender kicked it out with his studs. What is VAR for if it can't see that? When Rangers play in Europe we are on a level playing field – that’s how we get so far. VAR is laughable to say the least. Bin it.”
Gers legend John Brown wasn’t happy on Gers TV but Gordon Ashley, Ayr, said: What a comedy show Rangers and John Brown are once again.
“The truth is their club have been the most pandered to by referees for decades and now VAR has evened things out they can’t handle it. There was no proof the ball was over the line so dry your eyes and give us all peace.”
