Rangers fans slam Hibs over Easter Road away stand entry and claim system caused ‘tension and crushing’

A Rangers fan group has hit out at the "alarming scenes" outside Easter Road as the visiting support attempted to enter the stadium for the clash with Hibs.

Michael Beale's side cruised to a comfortable victory as Easter Road as they came from behind after Connor Goldson's own goal to secure three Premiership points thanks to an Antonio Colak double as well as goals from Fashion Sakala and captain James Tavernier. Despite the convincing 4-1 victory, supporter group Broomloan Collective have been left disappointment by the treatment of the Rangers fans.

The group were critical of the procedures that are in place to allow the visiting support into the ground, noting that some fans missed kick-off in Leith. The also claim that "unnecessary tension and crushing" was caused by the use of police horses with the Ibrox faithful in a single-file queue. The statement read: "Broomloan Collective would like to highlight the alarming scenes outside the away end at Easter Road last night, when Rangers fans were trying to gain entry to the ground.

"Rangers supporters outside the away end were made to queue in single-file lines before being subject to body searches. These procedures put in place by the authorities and Hibernian FC cause disconcerting scenes as large queues formed into a bottleneck.

"Police horses deployed amongst the queueing fans also caused unnecessary tension and crushing. As well as putting supporters at risk, this situation caused many supporters to remain stood outside the ground by the time the match kicked off. It left many with an unpleasant match day experience."

Hibs have been approached for comment.
