Rangers could 'rip up contract' of midfielder as 'attitude questioned'

Ranagers are reportedly considering ripping up Josh McPake's contract - despite the youngster having signed a two-year extension in January.

The Coatbridge winger penned a deal at Ibrox to keep him tied to the club until summer 2024 before heading out on loan to Tranmere Rovers in English League Two, but his time under Micky Mellon down south hasn't gone according to plan.

And it appears Rangers could be set to sever ties with the player at the end of the season.

Football Scotland are reporting that Rangers are "expolring the possibility of ripping up his contract" and it is understood McPake's "attitude has been called into question."

The club are now looking at paying up the rest of his contract to facilitate a move out of Govan.

The news comes after it was reported Gers gaffer Gio van Bronckhorst doesn't see McPake - who has yet to make a first team appearance - as part of his future plans.

McPake spent much of last season at Harrogate Town in EFL League Two and also briefly at Greenock Morton. An ill-fated move to Morecambe in EFL League Two followed before the latest switch to Tranmere.

But Rangers are said to be unhappy with the progress he has made.

Last week, former Rangers star Alan Hutton said he reckons the writing is on the wall for the former Braidhurst High School pupil after he believed his performances 'hadn't been good enough' to warrant a stay with the current Scottish Premiership champions.
