Rangers star in transfer tug of war as 'every player will have a price' mantra raised amid new contract talks and English interest

Rangers midfielder Alex Lowry would develop with an extended contract at Ibrox - but big money might be too much to turn down.

The Uddingston teenager has established himself as one of the Ibrox club's brightest talents after four senior appearances this term.

His performances in the Lowland League 'B' team have earned him his promotion and places in squads like Thursday's Europa League semi-final victory over RB Leipzig.

Lowry is now heading for Seville and a European final but boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has already confirmed new contract talks are set to begin. The Lanarkshire teen's current deal expires in 2023/

English Premier League sides Manchester City and Newcastle United could throw a spanner in the works as they lurk with interest.

They would have the capability of offering the Light Blues big money and Rangers hero Alan Hutton reckons development would perhaps be better served at Ibrox.

Hutton told Football Insider: “That’s the big thing. We’ve spoken about it before.

“Every player at Rangers will have a price and if it’s met, they’ll leave.

“This is a young boy with so much potential. He’s only 18, he’s at the start of his career. Develop where you are, become a better player for Rangers.

“Then, in a few years time when you’re ready and you’re developed, if the opportunity arises then that’s a better time to then go.”
