Rangers cop old Celtic biscuit tin jibes as anxious fans fret over transfer silence - Hotline

Rangers fans would have been delighted to see their club linked with PAOK Salonika striker Antonio Colak as they are beginning to get twitchy about the lack of new arrivals at Ibrox this summer. While Allan McGregor, Steven Davis, Scott Arfield and Connor Goldson have extended their contracts, no new faces have arrived.

Jimmy Mac, Glasgow, said: “ Rangers are being backed to sell striker Alfredo Morelos ahead of next season. That makes no sense whatsoever after what happened in the latter quarter of last season, Rangers were struggling without a proven striker due to injuries to both Morelos and Roofe. Unless Morelos isn’t willing to sign an extension with the club, we will need to bring in another two strikers. Otherwise we could be left with the possibility of the same/similar scenarios as last season.”

Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus , is hoping that changes soon, saying: “As a Rangers fan I don’t think there is much fixing to be done, but we need a striker and it seems the biscuit tin has changed from Green to Blue.”

Gary McLaughlin, Edinburgh, said: “I’m not happy with the short term thinking at Ibrox - Arfield, Davis and McGregor are veterans getting another year when what we need is fresh legs and younger players with their futures in front of them. Pre-season starts next week and the lack of new arrivals is concerning.”

Moving on, Drew Ferguson, Oban, emailed: “Ian (nothing to do with me mate) Maxwell’s suggestion that the SPFL can set up their own independent inquiry to look at the dispute between Rangers and the SPFL board concerning the cinch contract...that’s like asking Boris Johnston to set up an ethics committee.
