Rangers are 'deflecting' with SFA VAR wars as pundit shifts focus to Philippe Clement's shortcomings

Deflection is Rangers' true motivation for stoking the VAR wars with the SFA.

That's according to Mark Wilson, who agrees that Alistair Johnston handled in the box against Celtic. But the Clyde Super Scoreboard pundit accepts the Abdallah Sima offside means it wasn't a penalty and that it didn't affect the outcome of the game. The real issue, he reckons, is that Rangers lost another big Old Firm game which they went into in good form and their rivals supposedly on the ropes.

Wilson points out that the narrative is now all about Willie Collum and the VAR process as the Ibrox club and governing body play statement ping pong.. And none of the focus is on how Philippe Clement's side performed at Parkhead and missed the chance to really crack up the title pressure on Brendan Rodgers' side, who are now eight points clear, albeit having played two matches more.

"What Rangers are doing are deflecting," said the former Hoops full back. "And I'll tell you what everybody is doing now; they're talking about the decision. They're not talking about Rangers being beaten after being on the ascendancy, and Celtic apparently stuttering and brendan Rodgers being under pressure. Nobody is talking about that.

"Nobody is talking about the manager's team selection. Nobody is talking about Dessers, nobody is talking about the manager' substitutions. It's about the statement put out about Willie Collum, and the rest has all been forgotten about.

"it was the same after the game at Ibrox. Everybody spoke about that decision rtaher than the actual defeat. It's deflection."
