Rangers announce Jimmy Bell funeral details as fans invited to pay final respects to beloved kit man

Rangers have announced arrangements for the funeral of legendary kit man Jimmy Bell.

Bell sadly passed away aged 69 on May 3 to plunge the Ibrox club into mourning at the loss of much-loved figure.

He provided over 30 years of service to Rangers, initially as a bus driver before taking up the kit man role he became widely known for throughout Scottish football.

Bell was a constant at Ibrox through the years, working under managers such as Graeme Souness and Walter Smith all the way through to Steven Gerrard and Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Rangers have announced Bell's funeral will take place on Friday, May 20 at 10am, with a private service being held at Wellington Church in Glasgow.

A funeral cortege will then pass by Ibrox at midday and the club have invited supporters to gather to pay their respects.

A Rangers statement said: "Rangers can today confirm funeral details for our much-loved kitman, Jimmy Bell.

"A private service will take place at Wellington Church, Glasgow at 10am on Friday.

"The funeral cortege will then pass Ibrox at 12noon, with supporters invited there to pay their final respects."
