Rangers: £20.7m duo slammed for "not stepping up" at Ibrox

Rangers‘ January signings haven’t stepped up to the plate since arriving at Ibrox, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst made two winter additions, with Aaron Ramsey joining on loan from Juventus, while young forward Amad Diallo arrived from Manchester United on a temporary deal.

With Ramsey completely out of the pitch at the Old Lady, and Diallo hoping to gain valuable first-team experience having hardly featured at Old Trafford, the pair were brought in by the Dutchman, who was hoping to improve Rangers’ chances of fighting for major silverware.

However, the £20.7m-rated duo have been unable to make the kind of impact that many were hoping for when they arrived.

Initially, Diallo enjoyed a bright start after he marked his Gers debut by scoring in the draw at Ross County. His performance would earn himself another start in the Old Firm derby, but he was hauled off at half-time and hasn’t been picked from the off once since, playing just 81 minutes in total in the league.

Ramsey has fared slightly better, but he is yet to hit top form despite recently opening the scoring in the Old Firm defeat earlier this month.

Overall, the Wales international has chipped in with two goals and one assist in 10 appearances and appears to have shaken off his injury problems having started three Scottish Premiership games on the bounce.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Rangers’ signings in January. Diallo from Man United has been non-existent. Ramsey hasn’t really worked yet, even though he scored in the Old Firm, he’s been so stop-start. Ultimately, the players they bought in January have not stepped up.”
