Ramsgate manager Ady Pennock reunites with Jonny Henly, who he rates as best Isthmian Premier goalkeeper

Ramsgate boss Ady Pennock has signed someone he rates as the best keeper in the Isthmian Premier.

Pennock has moved for goalkeeper Jonny Henly after he left Dartford this week.

The pair worked together at Princes Park last season and Pennock could not speak highly enough of the former Reading, Welling United and Tonbridge player.

“He was one of the highlights of the season for me,” said Pennock.

“He’s a typical goalkeeper, a nutter, but everything he did on the pitch, his handling and shot stopping, coming out to crosses, decision-making and kicking was excellent.

“He was by far the best keeper in the league last season. Even in the changing room, he was excellent with everybody so I'm so pleased that we got him on board.

“It's a real good signing for us.”

Henly will also be reunited with goalkeeping coach Les Cleevely.

“He loved working with Les, as well,” added Pennock. “They had a really good rapport with each other and it was good to see that.

“Les is a very good goalkeeper coach and he’s really pleased that he's with us.”

Henly becomes Ramsgate’s second new signing of the summer after the arrival of centre-back Dave Winfield from Hornchurch.

Pennock already has Raphe Brown, TJ Jadama, Billy Munday, Henry Lukombo, Benedict Bioletti, Tom Clifford, Alfie Paxman and Solomon Ogunwomoju on board from last season’s squad.
