Ramos, Davids, Zlatan, Totti: The XI with the most red cards in football history

Sergio Ramos picked up the 28th red card of his career on Saturday night as Paris Saint-Germain drew 0-0 with Reims.

Ramos gave away a free-kick and was shown a yellow card by the referee for protesting. Seconds later, he was brandished a red card for presumably something he said.

Twenty-eight red cards.

It got us thinking: Which players have received for most red cards in their career?

Ramos is certainly up there.

And to celebrate, we’ve decided to compile and XI of players who have picked up the most red cards in football history. Using data from Transfermarkt and a YouTube video from Football Info, we’ve created an XI with an eye-watering 248 red cards between them!

And there’s one player who is far and away the dirtiest player ever, picking up 18 more red cards than Ramos!

To be sent off SEVEN times in your career as a goalkeeper is actually quite impressive. The German goalkeeper has been sent off far less than the rest of his teammates in this XI though.

Ramos picked up the 28th red card of his career during PSG’s 0-0 draw with Reims. That red means he’s now picked up the second most red cards in football so can be considered ‘vice-captain’ of this naughty side…
