Ralf Rangnick rules five Man Utd stars out of Norwich clash and provides Luke Shaw update

Ralf Rangnick has ruled five Manchester United players out of the upcoming Premier League clash against Norwich City and provided an injury update on Luke Shaw.

Top-four chasing United welcome bottom-placed Norwich to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, looking to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Everton.

The Red Devils, who are six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, should be too strong for a Norwich side who have amassed just 21 points this season and are set to be relegated to the Championship.

But Rangnick will be without five first-team players as Shaw, Scott McTominay, Raphael Varane, Edinson Cavani and Fred are all struggling with injuries.

‘Five players will still be missing for tomorrow and some of them probably for the upcoming games,’ Rangnick said at his pre-match press conference on Friday before naming the absentees.

Rangnick also gave up update on England defender Shaw, who was forced off in United’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City at the start of the month after returning from the treatment room during the international break in March.

‘Shaw had his bolts and metal stuff removed from his leg,’ Rangnick said. ‘It seems like he will be out for another at least four weeks, if not five weeks.

‘I think it will be difficult for him to be available for any of our remaining games.’
