Ralf Rangnick makes Alejandro Garnacho prediction as teenager is included in Man Utd squad

Ralf Rangnick says Alejandro Garnacho is one of Manchester United’s ‘most promising players’ and could establish himself as a first-team player for the club.

The 17-year-old was included in United’s squad for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Norwich City at Old Trafford, starting on the bench.

Garnacho has been training with the senior team after scoring 12 times at youth level for the Red Devils this season.

The forward, who was signed from Atletico Madrid in 2020, has been rewarded with a place in the matchday squad and therefore could make his senior debut against the Canaries.

‘[Garnacho] has been training with us [the first team] for the last two weeks and I know that he is one of the most promising players,’ Rangick told MUTV before kick-off at Old Trafford.

‘[He is] still only 17, but a player that hopefully if he keeps his feet on the ground. If he keeps trying to get better every day, then he will not only be sitting on the bench but there is every chance he will be playing for this club.’

The Red Devils appear to have taken a step closer to hiring Rangnick’s successor, having reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Erik ten Hag.

But no official announcement is expected until after Ten Hag’s Ajax’s side take on PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Cup final on April 17.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged the 52-year-old to ask questions about the club’s recruitment.
