Ralf Rangnick has hit back at Louis van Gaal, saying the Holland manager should have been prepared for the commercial commitments he encountered as Manchester United manager. The former Reds tactician advised Ajax coach Erik ten Hag to join a football club and not 'commercial club' United, who interviewed the Dutchman last week.

The Manchester Evening News understands that Ten Hag is United's preferred candidate to take over as permanent manager in the summer. Van Gaal claimed 'the balance between the football department and commercial department is not right and even slopes over to the commercial' at United and warned off the Eredivisie-winning manager from taking the Old Trafford hotseat in the summer.
