Ralf Rangnick has chance to scout three players who could improve Manchester United

At the end of the season, Ralf Rangnick will leave his role as interim manager and move into a consultancy position at Manchester United. But that's not all. He has also been appointed the manager of the Austrian national team; a role which he will do in tandem with his duties at Old Trafford.

In an official statement, Rangnick said: “I will take over as national team manager of Austria at the end of the season but will continue my consultancy with [Manchester] United. I’m really looking forward to playing my part in helping United become a real force again.”

It is expected that his role will focus mainly on recruitment. So there is a serious possibility that while he works as the Austria manager he could also be looking at potential targets for United in the summer window. Here are three players that could benefit Erik ten Hag's team:

Konrad Laimer

Laimer's contract expires in 2023 therefore he would likely be available for a cut-price fee from RB Leipzig. The Austrian midfielder also can play further forward and influence the game in possession as well as significantly out of it, with five goals and six assists in all competitions this season.

Rangnick signed the midfielder when he was the Global Head of Sport and Development at the Red Bull group, so he will be reunited with him when he becomes Austria manager. With Ten Hag wanting to improve the team's fitness and physicality, Laimer would slot in perfectly.

Florian Grillitch

With United needing a defensive midfielder; Grillitch might be a good backup option if other targets fall through. Declan Rice is seemingly being priced out of a move by West Ham United and Aurelien
