Rain has final say in SA20 clash between Joburg Super Kings and Pretoria Capitals

Rain was the ultimate winner in the SA20 clash between the Joburg Super Kings and the Pretoria Capitals at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on Thursday.

Only one innings could be completed before the heavens opened over the ground, forcing the match to be abandoned.

After they were asked to bat first, the Pretoria Capitals were in early trouble, losing opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz for a duck in the first over off the bowling of Donovan Ferreira.

Will Jacks and Kyle Verreynne put on 47 for the second wicket before Jacks (15) was LBW to Evan Jones in the 6th over.

From there, the Capitals struggled against spin as Rilee Rossouw (1) was bowled by Moeen Ali and Verreynne (39) was caught off veteran Imran Tahir.

Marques Ackerman (2) soon followed, caught and bowled by Ali before Liam Livingstone (22) and James Neesham (30) steadied the ship somewhat, allowing the Capitals to reach 138/8 in their 20 overs.

Ferreira (2/17) and Ali (2/21) were the best of the Super Kings bowlers, while Tahir took 1/17 in his four overs.

When the Super Kings came out to bat, a massive shower forced the players off the field, with play being abandoned soon after.

Pretoria Capitals: 138/8 (Verreynne 39, Neesham 30, Ferreira 2/17, Ali 2/21)

Joburg Super Kings: 0/0

Result: Match abandoned due to rain.
