Hythe Town manager Nick Davis has his say after Cannons pick up four red cards in Three Bridges defeat

Hythe were unhappy with the performance of referee Daniel D’Urso after receiving four red cards in their last-gasp defeat by Three Bridges on Saturday.

D’Urso, the son of ex-Premier League referee Andy, dismissed Javaun Splatt, TT Walters and David Ozobia, along with manager Nick Davis, in a 1-0 home loss.

Splatt was sent off as he tried to defend himself after being punched by Bridges’ Josh Hallard, who also saw red.

In the same 12th-minute incident, Hallard’s brother, Reece, charges in and sends Splatt to the ground.

He escaped punishment, however, and would go on to score the visitors’ injury-time winner from the spot.

Walters, having been booked for kicking the ball away, received a second yellow on 75 minutes when Hythe felt he had clearly won the ball.

Ozobia received his first yellow for diving, despite replays showing he had been elbowed.

And with Hythe 1-0 down after conceding a soft penalty, he picked up his second caution after questioning the award of a throw-in which should have been a home ball.

Davis received two yellow cards in the space of 20 second-half minutes after calling for consistency in D’Urso’s decision-making, feeling everything was going against Hythe.

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” said Davis.

“Jav get punched twice and he’s defended himself, he’s done well not to raise his hands himself there.

“The guy’s brother then comes in and poleaxes him so they could have had two red cards there but he sends off Jav and the player that punched him but Jav should never have been sent off.

“It’s clear as day he’s trying to defend himself.

“We can appeal that because it’s a straight red but there’s nothing we can do about the second bookings.

“TT’s first was a yellow card because he’s kicked the ball
