Quinton de Kock masterclass leads Seattle Orcas charge to Major League Cricket final

Quinton de Kock smashed 88 off 50 balls to take the Seattle Orcas to a nine-wicket Major League Cricket victory against the Texas Super Kings at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Thursday.

De Kock's innings included 10 fours and four sixes.

The Seattle Orcas bowlers restricted the misfiring Super Kings to 126/9, with Faf du Plessis only managing five runs off eight balls before he was caught by Heinrich Klaasen off Imad Wasim's bowling, and David Miller's initial fast start with two consecutive fours snuffed at 16 runs off 17 when he was caught behind by De Kock during an Andrew Tye (3-32) over.

Daniel Sams was the top-scorer for the Super Kings with 26 off 25.

De Kock opened the batting for the Orcas and made short work of the chase.

After the loss of only one wicket early on, that of Nauman Anwar caught for two by Mohammad Mohsin off the bowling of Rusty Theron in the second over, it was one-way traffic from then on.

Sams was on the receiving end of consecutive boundaries from De Kock in the following over as Shehan Jayasuriya played a supporting role with 31 off 34 as the pair reached only the second 100-run partnership of the tournament.

The Proteas wicketkeeper-batsman made it to his half-century with a flourish at the expense of his compatriot, pace bowler Gerald de Kock, with a couple of sixes over the leg-side boundary as the Orcas went on to haul in the Super Kings' total within 15 overs.
