Queen of the South skipper issues SOS call to team mates to avoid relegation from League One

Queens captain Harry Cochrane has issued a rallying cry to his team mates: Save Our Season.

He urged the Doonhamers troops to start picking up points and haul themselves clear of the League One basement after nosediving towards the drop zone.

Queens lost 2-1 to local rivals Annan last weekend and are now third bottom of the table — four
points clear of their local rivals ahead of tomorrow’s visit of leaders Falkirk, which is live on BBC ALBA.

Cochrane said: “There are eight games left in the league and I am sure we can turn it around.

“There are only four points between us (and Annan) and it is now about cutting out the mistakes and going and punishing teams for them making mistakes.

“Because that is what is happening to us on our bad run. We have been on a bad spell recently but as I say we have those eight games to turn our season around.

“It’s obvious we have not been performing well and I just cannot put my finger on it.

“We have not been taking our chances and conceding too many goals, that’s just the way football is and it is as simple as that.

“But you can see the boys are giving everything every single week.”

Cochrane added: “We play Falkirk and they are unbeaten, but somebody has to beat them and I don’t see why it cannot be us.

“We are fully behind the manager. It is a collective. It is not his fault. He is not out there on the pitch playing, it is the players so it is us playing and it is up to us to get the results on a Saturday.

“The fans are not happy when you are not performing well and that is what happens.

“We have not been good enough. But we are still four points clear and need to knuckle down.”
