Queen Elizabeth II: West Ham fans sing 'God Save The Queen' before match

West Ham United fans sung ‘God Save The Queen’ in a beautiful tribute to Queen Elizabeth II before their Europa Conference League match on Thursday evening.

Her Majesty, The Queen, sadly passed away on Thursday afternoon at the age of 96.

West Ham’s Europa Conference League match against Fotbal Club FCSB went ahead as planned.

Taking to Twitter after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, West Ham wrote on Twitter: “West Ham United is deeply saddened by the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

“Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with the Royal Family and we join the nation in mourning her loss. Rest In Peace, Your Majesty.”

They then confirmed the game would go ahead following direction from the FA and UEFA.

“Following direction from the FA and UEFA, tonight’s fixture against FCSB will take place as planned at London Stadium,” West Ham wrote.

“A minute’s silence will be held before kick-off allowing the teams, match officials and everyone in attendance to pay their respects to Her Majesty The Queen.”

During the minute’s silence at the London Stadium, those inside the ground broke out in a round of applause.

They then sang the National Anthem – ‘God Save The Queen’ – in a wonderful show of respect for Queen Elizabeth II.

Sports reporter Ian Abrahams, otherwise known as Moose, captured the moment on video and shared the footage on Twitter.
