QPR’s Charlie Austin sends message to Alejandro Faurlin

Queens Park Rangers forward Charlie Austin has reacted on Instagram to the news that Alejandro Faurlin has decided to call time on his career.

The 35-year-old announced his retirement at the weekend following a stint with Instituto in his homeland of Argentina.

During his time at QPR, Faurlin produced a host of memorable performances for the club.

After helping the R’s achieve promotion to the Premier League by making 40 appearances in the Championship for the club, Faurlin featured on 20 occasions at the highest level in the 2011/12 campaign as his side narrowly avoided relegation.

Having been loaned out by the club in the second-half of the 2012/13 season, Faurlin only managed to make seven league appearances when he returned to QPR as he missed the majority of the following season due to a serious knee injury.

Austin featured alongside Faurlin for three years at QPR before both players moved on to pastures new in 2016.

Having opted to rejoin the R’s on a permanent basis last summer, the forward will be keen to help his side secure a play-off place in the Championship this season.

Making reference to Faurlin’s decision to retire on Instagram, Austin has admitted that it was a pleasure to play with the midfielder at QPR and has wished him the best for the future.

The forward posted: “Pleasure to play with this man Ali Faurlin, one of the best midfielders I have played with.

“All the best for the future.”
