QPR 2-2 Middlesbrough: What happened? Who stood out? What are the fans saying?

Promotion-hopefuls QPR and Middlesbrough played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium yesterday evening. 

The R’s, who are now unbeaten in seven league games, remain well within the automatic-chasing pack and are just five points shy of the much-desired second position. 

Boro are now just one point and one place from entering the top-six positions, with Chris Wilder’s men picking up 13 points from their last six. 

What happened?

Ilias Chair opened the scoring for the in-form hosts when he was afforded too much time on the edge of the area, with the exciting midfielder curling his effort into the bottom corner with 29 minutes on the clock. 

Dael Fry then levelled the scoring moments before half time when the central defender battled well before striking high into the net.

It took Chris Willock just 15 seconds after half time to restore QPR’s lead, with the attacking midfielder capitalising on a disastrous mistake from Boro goalkeeper Joe Lumley. 

The visitors were once again level on the hour mark when Albert Adomah tapped into his own net, following excellent play from the ever-lively Isaiah Jones.

Who stood out?

For the hosts, Willock and Chair both looked lively, with the latter picking up some good positions and causing the Boro defence a few problems. 

Jones provided the assist for the second equaliser, and it was the pacy winger who caught the eye once again with a confident display on the right flank. 

Marcus Tavernier and Andraz Sporar were also relatively influential for the visitors with Boro starting to emerge as a fearsome attacking force.
