Puskas nominees announced, Maart wonder goal snubbed
FIFA has announced the 11 nominees for this year's Puskas award.
The Puskas award was named after the legendry Ferenc Puskas who boasts one of the best catalogue of goals. It is awarded every year at the FIFA Ballon d'Or ceremony and is regarded as the best goal scored that year.
For this year, the FIFA panel included goals from Kylian Mbappe's volley against France in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final, as well Mario Balotelli''s sensational dribble and skill against Goztepe were nominated to name a few.

Surprisingly, South Africa's Yusuf Maart, who scored an audacious long range strike from his own half against Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby, was omitted from the shortlist.
I’m sure scoring in the Soweto Derby is something special but to score your first goal for your club in in the derby is definitely extra special, Yusuf Maart has done it with an extra ordinary goal. Well done Yusuf ????pic.twitter.com/iMpJbBy5rP
