Pundit reveals what he loves about Aston Villa prodigy with 'bright future'

Michael Dawson believes that Jacob Ramsey has a very "bright future" ahead of him following Aston Villa's 2-0 win over Brighton on Saturday.

Despite conceding two-thirds of possession to the home side, goals from Matty Cash and Ollie Watkins sealed a much needed win for the Villains at the Amex Community Stadium.

Former Tottenham and Nottingham Forest defender Dawson singled out Ramsey for praise after the game and explained why he was so impressed by the 20-year-old, who was named this season's best performer by BirminghamLive readers in a recent poll.

"He was very good today," Dawson told Sky Sports on Soccer Saturday. "I like him, he gets up the field.

"Jacob Ramsey is just growing with experience, he manages the game and it was him who got fouled for (Phil) Coutinho's free kick where (Robert) Sanchez made a top save.

"Jacob Ramsey has a bright, bright future and he keeps getting better and better. He's learning the game in the Premier League.

"In recent weeks it hasn't been the best time for Aston Villa, but Steven Gerrard and the players will be delighted with that win."

Despite his acclaim for the youngster, the ex-England international thought that the top performer on the day was one of his Villa teammates, John McGinn.

"I thought another midfielder, John McGinn, was probably man of the match. I really thought he was," he said.

"His energy, when they were under pressure he picks up positions and breaks things up. Brighton really chucked everything forward, two nil down they had 10, 15 minutes to get back in the game and they couldn't do it."
