"Suddenly" - Journalist drops injury claim as West Ham dealt "new blow" ahead of Sevilla

West Ham are suddenly dealing with a potential double injury blow ahead of their Europa League tie on Thursday, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg in Spain, David Moyes’ side host Sevilla in the second leg tomorrow night but are sweating on the fitness of Aaron Cresswell and Michail Antonio after the pair were forced off against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Having lost Jarrod Bowen against Liverpool, which forced him to miss the first leg at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, Moyes would have been hoping to avoid any further injuries against Villa to ensure that his side have the best chance of progressing to the quarter finals.

However, Moyes didn’t get his wish as seven minutes into the second half, Antonio hobbled off with a hamstring problem and had to be replaced by Andriy Yarmolenko.

Less than five minutes later, the Hammers boss was dealt another blow after Cresswell went off with an ankle injury and he is also a doubt for the game against Sevilla.

Star man Bowen is already expected to miss the clash at the London Stadium, meaning the availability of those two could go some way to deciding West Ham’s fate in the competition.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “They’ve been dealing without Jarrod Bowen and now they’ve been dealt a new blow.

“Just as they think they’re going to have those guys back, Antonio and Cresswell are suddenly thrown into doubt.”
