PSVR2: First image of new headset leaked
The first image of a PlayStation VR2 headset has seemingly been leaked by an independent developer.
Bit Planet Games, who are based in Texas, shared the image on social media on Wednesday, as per Video Games Chronicle, while posting a message.
It read: “Guess what’s coming to PSVR2?”
A follower subsequently asked the developer if they were breaking a non-disclosure agreement by posting the image, as it is the very first time the PSVR2 has been seen outside of a promotional setting.
They replied: “If we released this photo 6 months ago, you’d be right.”
So far, there has been a drip-feed of information from Sony when it comes to the PSVR2.
They claim that the VR headset will feature “stunning 4K HDR visuals, ground-breaking new controllers, and genre-defining games, all made possible by the power of PS5.”
The first game that was announced for the system was Horizon Call of the Mountain from Guerrilla and Firesprite.
PSVR2 will have 4K HDR, a 110-degree field of view, and an OLED display, offering 2000×2040 resolution.
Frame rates will reach 120hz, and VGC reports that Sony have claimed they will have 20 games ready for when the system launches.
Along with Horizon, Sony have also confirmed that No Man’s Sky is coming to the system, along with The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution and Resident Evil Village. Plenty more games are likely to be announced over the coming weeks and months.
There is no release date for PSVR2 as of yet but it could be coming within the next year, if reporting is to be believed.
We’ll keep a close eye on Sony’s channels and let you know when we get the confirmation of the release date.
