Man City press conference LIVE as Pep Guardiola gives pre-season team news update for Club America fixture

Pep Guardiola will speak to the media before Manchester City get their pre-season schedule underway.

After winning a fourth Premier League title in five seasons, the champions have jetted off to the United States to fine-tune their preparations for another domestic and European charge. The first game comes against Mexican side Club America in Houston, Texas, in the early hours of Thursday morning (UK time).

That contest at the NRG Stadium could see summer signings make their first appearances in a City shirt. Guardiola has welcomed Kalvin Phillips and Erling Haaland to the club, while January recruit Julian Alvarez has also finally met his teammates with Stefan Ortega signed as back-up to first-choice goalkeeper Ederson.

Guardiola will discuss their prospective debuts when speaking to the media and also provide an injury update with a view to who might feature against Mexican opponents.

Riyad Mahrez - who last week extended his City contract - will also speak to the media.

Joao Cancelo has been assigned a new shirt number by City for the upcoming season.

Cancelo, 28, signed for the Premier League champions from Juventus three years ago and has worn the number 27 shirt throughout his time at the Etihad Stadium. However, after a stunning campaign, the Portuguese has now been rewarded with an upgrade.
