PSV suffer major injury blow ahead of Leicester City Europa Conference League clash
PSV Eindhoven are expected to be without Noni Madueke for Thursday’s Europa Conference League clash against Leicester City.
City travel to the Netherlands in what is a winner takes all game after the 0-0 draw at the King Power Stadium last week. A win for City will see them face either Bodo/Glimt or AS Roma in the semi-final of the competition.
One of the most talked-about players ahead of last week’s first leg was winger Madueke, who has been linked with a move to the King Power Stadium. The England U21 international started the game as he looked to gain an advantage for his club. It now seems that he won’t be available for the second leg at PSV’s Philips Stadium after picking up an injury this weekend. Madueke was one of the players rested as Roger Schmidt made five changes to his lineup to face RKC Waalwijk.
The winger did come on as a substitute in the 66th minute before picking up an injury during the game. It is now claimed by Dutch journalists that the winger has a muscle issue and is ‘eliminated’ from both the second leg vs Leicester and PSV’s cup final vs Ajax next weekend.
Schmidt provided an update on the winger, confirming that he is a major doubt. "Normally that doesn't go away in a day when you get out of a match, so we think it will be difficult towards Leicester City and Ajax," he said, via ED.
“If you look at how hard he has worked, it is very sour. He played well against Leicester. It is very unfortunate for him and for us. The medical staff is doing everything they can. There were no complaints. We now have to see how serious it is.”
Centre-back Olivier Boscagli is also another injury doubt for PSV ahead of the game after the defender was substituted against RKC Waalwijk, but the manager is more
