Leicester City transfer vow made as Foxes receive major PSV update

Leicester City opponents PSV have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of tomorrow's UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-final second leg clash.

The Dutch club have confirmed that they will be without defender Olivier Boscagli, whose season has come to an abrupt end through injury. The 24-year-old has suffered a serious knee injury. He will need to have an operation despite walking off the pitch after picking up the injury during PSV's league game against RKC Waalwijk over the weekend.

The centre-half played the full 90 minutes at the King Power Stadium - known in the Europa Conference League as the Leicester City Stadium for sponsorship reasons - in the first leg last week. After the injury blow was confirmed, PSV posted from their official Twitter account to say: "We're with you @OlivierBoscagli " - accompanied by broken heart, crying face and folded hands emojis.

Portsmouth manager Danny Cowley has said that Portsmouth will do ‘whatever they can’ to sign Leicester City striker George Hirst again next season.

The 23-year-old joined Pompey on a season-long loan in the summer transfer window and has enjoyed his time at Fratton Park. He scored his 11th goal of the season in Tuesday night’s 3-0 win over former loan club Rotherham United, prompting chants of ‘sign him up’ being sung from the stands .

Following the game, Cowley made no secret of his desire for the forward to extend his time at the club either on loan or permanently. “George has been great and let’s hope we don’t have to replace him,” he told the News .

“We’d like to sign him, extend the loan, do whatever we can. We have to, these are the young players that we want to try to sign."
