PSV 1-2 Leicester: Wesley Fofana's incredible turn of pace vs Eran Zahavi

Leicester City are through to the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League.

Brendan Rodgers’ side beat PSV Eindhoven 2-1 on Thursday evening thanks to second half goals from James Maddison and Ricardo Pereira.

Leicester actually fell behind in the match, with Eran Zahavi opening the scoring for the Dutch side in the 27th-minute of play.

But the Foxes rallied after the half-time interval and were more than deserving of victory at the Philips Stadium in the end.

A number of Leicester players dropped high-quality displays in Eindhoven, including Wesley Fofana, who was probably the best performer of the lot.

The French centre-back only recently returned from a serious leg break, but he’s already back somewhere close to his very best.

In the second half, Fofana proved conclusively that fitness is no issue whatsoever now as he showed an outrageous turn of pace to save Leicester when they were trailing 1-0.

Zahavi looked as if he was through on goal from a lofted pass over the visitors’ defence.

But Fofana had other ideas. The former Saint Etienne man turned into his lightning-quick countryman Kylian Mbappe and caught up to the Israeli forward after trailing by a good 15 yards or so.

The Leicester man was then able to bring a halt to PSV’s counterattack by winning the ball cleanly and therefore potentially saving his team from falling 2-0 down on the night.
