PSG's Kylian Mbappe accused of being selfish towards Lionel Messi vs Strasbourg

Lionel Messi hasn’t exactly been scoring goals for fun at Paris Saint-Germain.

While the Barcelona legend most certainly hasn’t been playing poorly in French football, there’s no denying that Messi‘s record standing at just four goals in 23 Ligue 1 games has shocked fans.

The fact that he continues to rank amongst Europe’s best-performing players doesn’t negate the reality that his goalscoring total in league football has plummeted by 26 strikes compared to last season.

When we’re talking about a player with six European Golden Shoe trophies who once scored 91 goals in a calendar year, such a drastic drop in goalscoring certainly isn’t something to be ignored.

And sadly, time really is running out for Messi to make his PSG statistics look much more aesthetically-pleasing in his debut season with just a handful of games left in the 2021/22 campaign.

The French champions only have clashes with Troyes, Montpellier and Metz left to play before they draw the curtains on what must ultimately go down as a bitterly disappointing season.
