PS5 rolling out VRR support for Call of Duty, Marvel's Spider-Man and more

The PS5 is finally getting the Variable Refresh Rate; here’s every game that you can use the technology with!

Sony has confirmed that VRR is rolling out this week, and will have an effect on multiple AAA game releases.

Per the PlayStation blog, the new Refresh Rate will start rolling out to players across the world this week.

It should be said here that, if you want to use it, you’re going to need a very good television, but that’s kind of the point.

Per the blog entry, VRR works in the following way: “On HDMI 2.1 VRR-compatible TVs and PC monitors, VRR dynamically syncs the refresh rate of the display to the PS5 console’s graphical output. This enhances visual performance for PS5 games by minimizing or eliminating visual artifacts, such as frame pacing issues and screen tearing.

“Gameplay in many PS5 titles feels smoother as scenes render seamlessly, graphics look crisper, and input lag is reduced.”

And it won’t just be new releases that are supported, with a clutch of previously released PS5 games also set to be supported.

All players will need to do is toggle the VRR on in the system settings. VRR will work with all games on PS5 if you enable the Apply to Unsupported Games toggle in Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output.

The games in the list will all receive patches over the coming days in order to allow VRR to be used.
