Proteas drawn alongside Wales, Jamaica in Netball World Cup draw

South Africa has been drawn in a tough Netball World Cup group following the draw that took place last week at the East London Convention Centre.

It'll be the first time Africa will host the quadrennial Netball World Cup in Cape Town, as the tournament is scheduled from 28 July to 6 August.

The 16 qualified teams were seeded according to their World Netball World Ranking from 3 November, with the top eight seeds placed into pools A to D.

The hosts South Africa are drawn in Pool C alongside Wales, Jamaica and Sri Lanka.

Defending champions New Zealand is drawn in Pool D alongside Uganda, Trinidad and Tobago and the lowest-ranked side, Singapore.

"My congratulations to all the teams that vied for success in the five regional qualifiers," said World Netball President, Liz Nicholl CBE.

"42 of our Member countries participated - involving over 500 athletes, more than 45 international umpires, over 200 coaches, managers and primary carers and thousands of administrators and wonderful volunteers who have all played their part in the road to next year's World Cup.

"It was a joy to see the matches broadcast widely around the world, reaching new audiences and giving our amazing sport the visibility it deserves... but now it's Africa's time to shine."

South African fans will now be able to purchase their tickets for the Netball World Cup tournament at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

Tickets start from R500 and have been classified in various categories, inclusive of gold, silver and bronze levels, as well as adult and junior prices.

Tournament Director for NWC2023, Priscilla Masisi said: "The events of the past week have certainly confirmed our readiness to host the Netball World Cup 2023 in Cape Town next year.
